From my experience:

·  Light.  The PG1’s are generally lighter than comparably priced gloves. ($85 retail). Lower priced gloves tend to use heavier materials, whereas higher priced gloves use similar materials but add more plastics as slash guards. Although that increases the safety of their gloves for highly competitive players, it also increases the weight and cost of those gloves.

·  Roomy.  I can’t claim I’ve noticed any difference from my previous pair of gloves, but many players have said they seem roomier than other brands.

·  Durable.  I’ve had my PG1’s for sixteen months. The first four months I skated an average of 3.5 times per week, the last year I’ve coached once a week while using these gloves. I’m not noticing a lot of wear and tear on my gloves. The inner padding is a bit less plush. The inside of the fingers show discoloration from tape, and have worn some, but I don’t see any signs of imminent holes or frayed seams. The reinforcement of the palm is in great shape.

·  Ergonomic.  Brand new, the PG1’s fit perfectly around a stick. However, they didn’t open widely enough initially, which made it a bit difficult to pick up a stick on the ice. So I put an Oggie Grip on my stick and no longer have the stick knocked out of my hand (although that is obviously another story). My current gloves open nearly an inch wider than the new pair, so the leather has stretched over time.

·  ClarinoTM.  ClarinoTM is a synthetic leather that doesn’t dry out like true leather, so I’ve never had the crinkly feeling that other gloves have.

·  Anti-Bacterial.  The PG1’s have anti-bacterial lining, which helps prevent irritation with some skin conditions.

·  Cool.  The mesh gussets have a loose weave, allowing great air flow to keep your hands from sweating as much. That said, if you use these on a pond for a game of skinny, you will freeze – trust me!

Size:

These gloves are available in 12", 13", 14" and 15". As I mentioned, some people have told me they think the gloves are roomier than other brands, although I didn't notice that myself.
